The five values

What are the five human values?

The five human values taught at Sai School are truth, right conduct, peace, love and non-violence. They come from Sathya Sai Education in Human Values, the programme the school has followed since 1995, and every faith shares them. Each assembly, story and activity explores one of the five. Children hear stories from many traditions and talk about what the value looks like at home and at school, then practise it through songs, drama, art and a few minutes of quiet sitting. Older pupils lead parts of the assembly and help run the food and toy collections, so the values turn into something they do as well as something they learn.

TruthBeing honest with yourself and with others.
Right conductDoing the right thing, even when it is hard.
PeaceA calm mind, through quiet sitting and song.
LoveKindness at home, at school and in the community.
Non-violenceRespect for every person and every living thing.
