Is Sai School really free?

Yes. There are no fees. The school is a registered charity (1089487), run by volunteers and funded by donations.

What ages do you teach?

Children from age 4. Lower School is for ages 4 to 7 and Upper School for ages 7 to 14. Older pupils can also join GCSE Hinduism and 11+ maths classes.

When and where are classes?

Every Saturday in term time, 10am to 12 noon, at Shaftesbury High School, Headstone Lane, Harrow Weald HA3 6NP. Arrive from 9:45. There is free parking on site, the H14 bus stops outside, and Headstone Lane station is nearby. Directions.

When does term start and finish?

The autumn term runs from Saturday 5 September to Saturday 12 December 2026, with no school on Saturday 31 October for half term.

Is it only for Hindu children?

No. Our programme is built on five human values that every faith shares: truth, right conduct, peace, love and non-violence. Children hear stories and prayers from many traditions, and families of all faiths and none are welcome.

What will my child learn?

The five human values, through stories, prayer, quiet sitting, songs, drama, art and festivals. Extra classes include tabla, Vedas, maths and English, GCSE Hinduism and 11+ maths. See classes and ages.

Who teaches the classes?

Experienced volunteer teachers. Everyone in a regular or unsupervised role has a DBS check.

Can parents stay?

Yes. Parents are welcome at the 10am assembly, and can join our bhajan and singing class while the children are in their lessons.

Is there an online option?

Yes. Our Global Virtual Classroom is for children who cannot come to Harrow. Find out more.

Do you photograph the children?

Only with parents' consent, and we never publish children's names. See our media policy.

How do we join?

Fill in the short application on our Admissions page and a volunteer will be in touch to welcome you.
